Hi everyone, I'm a non-UK medical student interested in Paediatrics and was thinking of undertaking my final year elective in the UK. I'm particularly interested in Child Protection and related rehabilitation, was looking to Great Ormond Street but are there any others centres/hospitals it'd be...

    Interviews for 2009 entry

Like I said, I'm not the best person to answer those types of questions. You'll have to check their website- http://cms.jcu.edu.au/courses/JCUPRD_031376 all call them up to ask. I tried ringing them up but it seems the medical faculty is not available at the moment (due to the holidays?) so...

    Interviews for 2009 entry

No JCU does not require the UMAT. You had submitted a direct application as well as one through QTAC, right? 97 is real good. :D If you're curious as to the status of your application, I think you can ring them up and ask. Good luck to both of you! (and me!) *ETA* I'm a domestic student.

    Interviews for 2009 entry

So.........has anyone been to an interview yet? I still haven't received anything from them. I'm worried, sighs. I've already applied to all med courses in Oz. And I've been rejected from UTas, West Sydney and Monash. My UMAT score isn't all that great, unfortunately.

Hi I'm also looking into applying to European countries with english medical courses. So Romania is one of my options. So the Carol Davila isn't all that favourable? I'm looking into Oradea or Constanta. Which do you think would be a better option? Where do most non-natives prefer? I'm...

Extended essay for the IB on Anaesthetics

My little brother read somewhere that people mainly mix sevoflurane and desflurane together to obtain a 'modern' anaesthetic. Or can he use them separately? I think so, but he still insists on asking. He also didn't choose more of the 'modern' anaesthetics for a couple reasons: they need to...

Extended essay for the IB on Anaesthetics

Hehe actually, no, he needs literature values for closed circulatory systems (humans/mammals etc.) but he doesn't have access to the right sources. He's done the other research. And he asked the other question, what else he could talk about etc. to see if there's anything he's forgotten...

What kind of a policy do the irish schools have for the IB?

Haha yes but if you're higher level, ppr 1 is 20% Ppr 2 34% ppr 3 20% and IA (internal assessment) 24%. I got a 7 for IA from my teacher. Ppr 1 was so bloody easy, I was expecting at least a 6, ppr 2 I was expecting at least a 5 and ppr 3 a 7. With those grades and weightings, I dunno how I got...

What kind of a policy do the irish schools have for the IB?

Hi everyone! I'm an IB graduate and I'd also like to share some of my opinions, experiences with you. First of all, I agree with the fact that you also need luck to be able to acquire some of the higher grades. It does depend on the examiner and the bloody markscheme. I was predicted a 7...

What exactly is 'Access to Medicine'?

Well then I'm glad I'm working 3x week in a lab and 3x week in a hospital instead of more of lab than hospital. I was also thinking (if possible, I'll need to speak to my respective supervisors) of doing some work experience in my now ex-high school's early years, possibly helping the youngin's...

What exactly is 'Access to Medicine'?

Hang on! So there's a thing where I apply to a standard biomed course at King's for example and in the second year if I do exceptionally well I'll be able to apply to the 5 year med course? And then they'll be basing my academic requirements off of my course grades not my IB score? How can I...
